hurricane katrina

The water flooded into houses and all over New Orleans

Some people didn’t eat for days after the hurricane

Thunder storms draw heat from the oceans surface and that's how hurricanes get started

It starts as a tropical depression

On aug. 29, 2005 katrina hit new orleans

The innerstorm can change mintue by minute

Catagories 1-5, 5 bring the worst.

A hurricane covers as big as a football field every hour

6:10 am katrina strikes land

A 15 ft wave hits new orleans

The levees failed

75% of new orleans was underwater

It took over a month to pump out all the water

Over 100,000 stayed home for the hurricane, they relied on the levees

Why did the levee fail?

Pressure made the walls vulnerbale

In all of the oceans, the temperatures have rised which makes the hurricanes stronger
